Lake Powell Houseboat Packing List

Packing for your Lake Powell houseboat vacation is easy when you know exactly what to bring. From food to sunscreen to board games, we’ve formulated a general packing list for you to use to plan your trip.

  • Food. Plan out each meal for the entire duration of your trip, including snacks. Pro tip: Premake and freeze a few dishes for less work when you’re out on the houseboat. Don’t forget to bring your favorite spices from home, the houseboat only provides salt and pepper.

  • Water. Being outdoors = higher water consumption. Consider bringing gallon jugs of water as well as individual water bottles to stay hydrated.

  • Sunscreen. Covering your skin with sunscreen lotion and protective clothing is highly recommended. The last thing you want on vacation is a massive sunburn.

  • Beach Towels. Bring along a towel for each person to use after swimming in the lake. Damp beach towels also make a cool seat cover.

  • Board Games. You and your crewmates are going to be spending a lot of time together, so break out the board games for some added entertainment after a day of fun on the lake.

  • Toiletries. As with any trip, pack your essentials including:

    • Toothbrush/toothpaste

    • Soap

    • Face wash

    • Deodorant

    • Moisturizing lotion

    • Chapstick

    • Shampoo/conditioner

    • Shaver/razor/shaving cream

  • Light Clothing. Lightweight, light-colored cotton t-shirts and coverups are ideal for a lake vacation. Your ultimate goal is to stay cool and comfortable.

  • Sunglasses. You’ll want to bring a pair or two that you don’t mind losing, just in case you misplace them or they fall off into the water.

  • Hat. Dust off your full brimmed beach hat for this trip.

  • Hiking shoes. Don’t miss out on some of Lake Powell’s incredible hikes because you forgot your hiking shoes.

  • Sandals. Flip flops are perfect for the occasion.

  • Phone Chargers. Although you won’t be on your phone much during your trip, it’s always safe to pack a few backup chargers so you don’t lose power completely.
